LAPD Detective and revenge porn victim Ysabel Villegas and attorney Lisa Bloom announce major new court action at today’s press conference.

In this press conference, LAPD Detective Isabel Villegas, represented by attorney Lisa Bloom, announces a lawsuit against the LAPD and the City of Los Angeles after her former partner, fellow officer James Reedy, allegedly took intimate photos of her without permission, threatened her with them, and ultimately distributed them to her coworkers and work email as revenge porn. Villegas, a nearly 30-year LAPD veteran with an unblemished record, says she repeatedly reported Reedy’s abuse and threats to multiple supervisors up to lieutenant and assistant chief level, but no one investigated or intervened, and after she came forward to Internal Affairs she was retaliated against by being transferred out of the prestigious Robbery Homicide Division.

Bloom notes they already obtained a five-year domestic violence restraining order against Reedy that bars him from possessing a firearm, yet he remains on full LAPD pay, and argues the department violated California’s revenge porn laws and its legal duty to prevent sexual harassment. Villegas, now on stress leave, describes the experience as humiliating and says no LAPD manager has contacted her to offer counseling, a threat assessment, or even to check on her wellbeing.
